Ahhhh! Too far behind!

Ahhh! I am so far behind on posting to my blog!! I apologize to everyone! I am up to my eyeballs in sessions to edit that I have not had the time to post anything new!! I will try my best to catch up in the next few day. It's a bit crazy around here!! With the Mini Sessions, booked weekends, the girls Parent-Teacher Conferences and Halloween all bunched together... I'm exhausted! But I will catch up- just give me a few days!!

Happy Halloween!!

What Is It They Say About Working With Animals And Kids?

Wasn't it WC Fields? LOL! Actually, I had a good time trying to get the dogs and the two little ones to look at me at the same time! I'm sure I drove anyone within 20 feet of me crazy though!

Once again- another awesome night too! The fog moved in last night and wasn't gone by noon- I thought for sure we were in for a foggy night. But around 1:00 the sky magically cleared and it turned into another perfect evening. The tide wasn't as nice to us as it has been the past two beach sessions, and "A" payed the price (in the form of a wet tush!)- but I don't think we could complain too much.

"D" family, here is your sneak peak!

More Amazing Beach Time!

Another amazing evening at the beach! This time with the "V" family and their adorable girls! They were so sweet! And finally...girls! Don't get me wrong- I love boys. But there is such a contrast between photographing boys and girls- it's amazing! Girls actually stand still for more then two seconds- and some even like it!

I feel terrible though! Poor "G" had phnomia and "R" ran the Mud Run at Camp Pendelton that morning! You would never know it though!! They are true troupers! And to think- this is the first time they have had family photos done! With a family this adorable, they should defiantly do this more often!

Thanks guys- you were great! Hope you feel better soon! Here is a quick sneak peak!

I just love the light on this one!

Another Day...Another Beautiful Sunset

Another day.....another beautiful sunset- what's a photographer to do? And the tide cooperated this time too!

You may recognise this family from past photo sessions. I did their Christmas photos last year as well as a large extended family session earlier in the year. They are always such a great family to work with! The boys are so sweet and mom and dad are fun and relaxed.

I was told "C" practiced his smile all afternoon! I just had to post this one to show you all how cute it was when he showed me!

Brothers

The "H" family traveled down from LA county for their family session! Wow! We met up at one of my favorite rustic locations. With the Santa Ana winds, the light was perfect! It can be way too harsh for beach photos, but it is perfect for rustic locals. What a cute family! The boys were adorable! Such boys! It was a struggle getting them to not make funny faces (which were adorable I might add- just not great from family photos Ü) and to not beat up on each other too much. But it sure made for a fun session!

I told "T" I thought he looked a lot like Michael Chiarello from the Food Network. He wasn't sure who that was- so here is a photo and a link for you "T". What do you guys think?

Saturday Morning at the Park

Saturday morning, I meet the "G" family at a beautiful park for their family photos. Little Miss "C" wasn't too keen on the idea of sitting still for more then a minute or two to get her photo taken- but then who is?! But she sure perked up when we let her go to explore on her own! Straight to the water! Luckily dad was quick and everyone stayed dry!

Here is a quick sneak peak-

Beautiful Sunset!

Photographing families on the beach in full sun can be quite a challenge. That is why most sessions are scheduled in the evening or early mornings- not so that we can get great sunset photos, but because of the quaility of the light!

Well, my session with the "U" family on Wednesday evening was an exception. We chose to meet at a beach I don't photograph at much- and with Santa Ana like conditions, the sun was bright and hot- even at 5:00 at night! The reward though, was one beautiful sunset!

Thank you guys for being patient with me!

Workshop Fun!

This weekend I attended a photography workshop put on by well know child photographer Skye Hardwick. Not only did I attend it, I was the hostess for it.

Photography workshop are something all photographers should attend at least once a year. Just like you children's teacher attends training over the summer to brush up on old skills and learn new ones, or you family dentist attends training to learn about the newest gadgets for making everybodys lives easier- photographers attend workshops to learn new ways of doing things and discovering new products.

It was fun meeting other photographers from around the globe! Including as far away as Russia and Canada! But the one thing we all had in common was a love of photography and a desire to learn new ideas. Which we were able to do with the help of some great model volunteers! Unfortunately, I spent so much time making sure that everyone was in the right place, that I missed out on photographing a lot of the kids! But I know the other photographers had lots of fun! Thank you to my contacts and past clients who volunteered to have their children participate.

The Weather Wins Out

Some of you blog stalkers (of which I am one!) may be wondering- "didn't she have a session scheduled for Sunday, September 28th?" Yes, yes I did- with the "S" family. And it was going to be a big one, parents, grandparents, kids, cousins- the whole shabang! But the weather won out and they chose to reschedule. (I have to warn you, this is a bad time of year to reschedule! There are only one or two weekend dates left!- and overcast days are GREAT for getting good photos) It was a very cold and gloomy day at the beach!

So I chose to spend my time with my family at a surf contest my hubbie's surf shop was sponsoring- the Cosmic Creek at Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point. Like I said- the weather was awful for being at the beach, cold and gloomy. But snuggled up in our sweatshirts, it was great. And how can you beat hanging out with surf legends like Tom Curren and Peter Townsend; Pros like Rob Machado, Pat O'Connell and Jeff Booth; Musical talent like G-Love and Donovan Frankenreiter and Photography legends like Tom Servias!?
